Without a doubt, Yancey’s book is one of the very best I’ve ever read in my life when it comes to the issue of pain and suffering. Yancey asks all the right questions and gives Christians a no nonsense, honest discussion when it comes to the issue of the problem of pain. His answers may surprise you, and you too may even come to view pain as one of God’s surprising gifts to us. This is another book that I consider to be a must read for all Christians.
How does one deal with prayers that don’t seem to ever be answered? Where is God when your need is great and all seems silent? Is there a God and does He even care? This book, along with Where is God When It Hurts, are books that every Christian should take the time to read.
A revised edition, this book plumbs the depths of our sorrows, whether due to illness, divorce, or the loss of someone we love. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life. Includes a new preface and epilogue.
Cline and Fay offer advice to help parents raise kids who are self-confident, motivated, and ready for the world by teaching them responsibility and the logic of life, thereby giving them the opportunity to solve their own problems from the earliest possible age.
Those Washingtonians who are acquainted with football undoubtedly are familiar with the legendary PLU football coach (he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005). Even if you don’t like football or sports at all, though, you may be surprised at what you can learn from Frosty. Frosty was an amazing and uplifting Christian who had an incredible impact on countless lives of many young men he coached. When he died, I’m told that over 2,000 people showed up for his funeral. In Strange Secrets of the Big Time, Frosty elaborates for his readers his positive and life-altering philosophies and approach to life. This book changed my own way of thinking, and it can help change yours, too.
