Parenting teenagers is not for the faint of heart. Adolescence, the developmental transition between childhood and adulthood, is characterized by hormonal changes, emotional turbulence, physical growth, sexual development, structural changes in the brain, and increased complex thinking, shifting internal clocks, increased social and academic pressures, and a natural tendency to push boundaries and assert their independence – all while trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in.
