How to Become Individually and Emotionally Healthy: Loving Yourself and Others

Individual CounselingPersonal DevelopmentRelationship Issues

“Love is multi-faceted.  It is like a diamond with many surfaces yet one display of beauty. In a similar way, when put together, the seven key characteristics of love form a loving person. Each trait is critical. If you are missing one in your relationships, you are missing something significant. These traits are the keys not only to successful relationships but to success in all of life. That’s because the only way to find true satisfaction in life is to love others well.” – Gary Chapman, Love as a Way of Life

This is such a great quote from Gary Chapman’s book, Love as a Way of Life, and so incredibly true. The speech I gave in this video you are about to watch was based on my journey to become a counselor, as well as the seven keys to transforming your life, from Love as a Way of Life.

The following speech was shared at the Mending Souls Conference in March 2017:

Like us if you are enjoying this content.

The seven characteristics I discuss include:

  • Kindness
  • Patience
  • Forgiveness
  • Courtesy
  • Humility
  • Generosity
  • Honesty

All of us need to work on these in our everyday lives, otherwise, what is the point of living, right? We are constantly striving to be better human beings and hopefully if you’re wise, a better partner.

So, as you ponder these characteristics, which ones are easiest for you and which ones are hardest for you? Whether you are in a relationship or single, it is good to begin to understand what you need to work on and what your strengths are.

For me personally, kindness and patience come easily. It’s forgiveness that can be hard, due to the things I have been through in my personal life, which most of us can struggle with at different points in our lives. I hope that as you watch this video clip from a speech I gave at a conference called, “Mending Souls,” you will take away some hope and information that will help you in your everyday lives.  God bless whomever is reading this and watching my video, thanks for taking the time to better yourself!
