Bible Verses About Peace: Spiritual, Psychological, and Relational

Looking for Bible verses about peace? If so, this article is for you. Peace can be hard to come by in this world. But for those who follow Jesus, it does not have to be so. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and He came to give us His peace through his atoning death on the cross and His resurrection.
When we put our trust in Him, He fills our hearts and minds with His supernatural peace. This peace is unlike the world’s peace. It is permanent and secure and is not affected by our circumstances.
Bible verses about peace
The Bible is filled with verses about how we can experience peace even during the chaos, fear, and storms of life. These can be grouped under three main categories – spiritual peace, psychological peace, and relational peace.
Spiritual peace
Spiritual peace is peace with God through salvation and a relationship with Him. It is a feeling of calm that transcends circumstances or human understanding, and is the most important type of peace because to experience peace within ourselves or peace with others, we need to first have this peace with God.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; — 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, ESV
God sent Jesus into the world to atone for our sins by His death on the cross and provide a way for us to be reconciled with Him. When we repent of our sins and surrender our life to Jesus, we can enter a relationship with God and experience His peace.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 5:1, NIV
Peace with God comes from what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. It is not something we can earn. It is a gift we receive by faith.
God desires that all people know His perfect peace. To have His peace, however, we need to possess the peace giver.For he himself is our peace…And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. – Ephesians 2:14a, 17, NIV
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3, ESV
When we keep our eyes fixed on the Lord and hold fast to the truth of His Word, external circumstances will not be able to shake our peace.
Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. – Psalm 119:165, NIV
God’s peace is built on the sure foundation of His Word. When we immerse ourselves in it and keep our minds on spiritual things, we will not be shaken by anything going on around us.
The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace. – Psalm 29:11, NIV
God is the source of our peace.
When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. – Proverbs 16:7, ESV
When we follow and obey the Lord, and live a life that pleases Him, He will even give us favor with our enemies.
Psychological peace.
Psychological peace refers to the mental and emotional peace we feel in ourselves. It is the state of inner tranquility God gives us when we become followers of Jesus and put our full trust in Him.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7, NIV
God does not promise to get rid of all our problems, but He does promise to fill our hearts with His peace that surpasses all understanding when we bring Him our worries and concerns and put our trust in Him. He wants His followers to experience peace and joy even during troubles.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27, NIV
Only Jesus can give us true peace. His peace is not fleeting like worldly peace that is dependent on everything going our way. It is a gift He gives us when we stay grounded in Him and is a peace that never changes, regardless of what we may be going through.
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. – John 16:33, NIV
In this world, we are guaranteed trouble, but Jesus reminds us that no matter what happens, He is in control and has conquered the world. We do not have to be afraid. Our earthly tribulations are only temporary.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. – Colossians 3:15, NIV
Peace is God’s will for your life. When we trust Him in every situation we face and allow His peace to reign in our hearts, we can feel at rest even during challenging circumstances.
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. – Psalm 4:8, NIV
No matter how scary life may seem we can still sleep peacefully, knowing that the Lord is in control and we can take shelter in Him. He is the only one who can keep us safe.
Because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” – Luke 1:78-79, NIV
God offers comfort and peace even in the darkest of times when death is near.
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. – Isaiah 54:10, NIV
The Lord’s love for you and His peace is stronger than any mountain or hill. He promises to always be there for you no matter what.
Relational peace
Relational peace is peace with one another. The only way we can experience this peace is by being united as children of God. When people become reconciled to God through Jesus’ death on the cross, they also become reconciled to one another.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. – Romans 12:18, NIV
We should do everything in our power to live peaceably with others.
In this verse, the apostle Paul exhorts us to not only strive for peace but to also build one another up.Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. – Romans 14:19, NIV
Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. – Ephesians 4:2-3, NIV
The apostle Paul exhorts us to be patient and gentle with one another and to make every effort to maintain unity and peace.
