We have all experienced times when life seems particularly challenging— a period of transition, a major event, or a loss that turns our world upside down. In our darkest moments, there can be no greater consolation than the gift of companionship on our journey through pain. We long to feel connection, to be freed from our isolation; we long for relationship. And in these moments, you may benefit from the help of a qualified Christian counselor. A counselor can offer the steadfast relationship and professional insight that will guide you from pain into joy and freedom. As a trained Christian counselor with a calling to help people through life’s challenges, I would be delighted to partner with you on that journey.
I have always been passionate about walking with families and individuals through stressful life events, whether a normal transition or an unforeseen crisis. In my own life I have found enormous healing through relationship with Christ and others. I have counseled individuals, couples, families, children, and teens in one-to-one and group settings. No matter where you find yourself in your life journey, I can promise that you will be very welcome in my office, and that together we will seek healing for whatever issues you may face.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
While I tailor my aims to suit the needs of each unique client, I always strive to foster a counseling relationship that is safe, healing, and honest. I aim to empower my clients to use their particular gifts and strengths to overcome any obstacle. I also endeavor to help clients creatively explore and discern God’s calling for their lives. I am especially interested in empowering clients to understand the ways in which our relationships shape our identity and development. Above all, I aim to provide a setting where open and respectful conversation naturally flows—a place in which clients can master skills and resources to overcome any issues they may face.
What I can Offer as a Christian Counselor
As a Christian counselor, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to process their concerns and work toward positive and lasting transformation. I promise that all my clients will be accepted for who they are, and that we will explore each issue creatively to pursue solutions that last. As a specialist in child and adolescent counseling, I can provide a trustworthy, meaningful relationship to children and teens struggling through the formative years of life. Finally, I invite God’s healing power into my counseling practice, and, where appropriate, I can draw from the Bible and Christian principles to help my clients.
My Counseling Approach
I believe it is critical to make openness, respect, and curiosity the key characteristics of my work as a counselor. During our first few sessions, I will spend time getting to know you better so that I can discern your needs and the best methods for helping you overcome any particular concerns. Once we have become acquainted, you and I will collaboratively explore possible solutions through intentional relationship building and conversation.
Through working with children and adolescents, I have found that young people greatly benefit from the counseling relationship. As in my work with adults, I aim to cultivate trust, honesty, respect, and curiosity when counseling young people. I make every effort to engage with children and teens on their level so that they know they are safe and free to express themselves. I find that art-therapy, language-based activities, and interactive play prove especially helpful when counseling children and teens.
